Pandarosa (www.pandarosa.net) or The Pandas as they are often referred to, are the brainchild behind Ariel Aguilera & Andrea Benyi. Originally hailing from Chile and Hungary, they joined forces in Melbourne & are currently based in Berlin.
Their work expands a wide range of approaches, including figurative illustration, abstract dreamscapes, bold iconic designs, detailed hand-drawn lines, nature inspired organic forms & pattern based imagery. They inhabit the middle ground between the worlds of art and design and they have done illustration work for magazines such as Frame or Icon, designs for clients such as Volkswagen or Adidas and art shows in galleries in Melbourne, Hamburg, Berlin, Tokyo or Los Angeles.
This is their first show in Madrid and under the title “Creature Comforts” they play with various geometric & pattern elements. By using their decorative features repetitively they’ve build a new collection of works on paper depicting various ‘images within images’, thus telling a series of fragmented stories along the way.
These rigid components alongside their signature abstract organic forms present the artists exploring new paths in their creative journey. While influences like nature & the changing of the seasons are still evident in their work, there is now a more ‘figurative’ approach & a focus on narrative storytelling within their pieces.
